How to choose a particular Teams account to join meetings?

Using the New Teams, I have recently added a 2nd account. So, let's anonymize them as Account 1 vs Account 2.

I normally work out of Account 1. That's my primary. I always intend to join meetings from Account 1.

However, when I receive meeting invites that have both Account 1 and Account 2 invited, Teams joins me from Account 2, and there doesn't appear to be a way to know why it's doing that, or to change it to Account 1 without completely removing Account 2 from my New Teams.

Am I missing something?

Any fresh news about this issue? I have a customer who is now also suffering this problem. This has been the case week or two. Please let me know if some kind of remedy exists. Cheers!

It looks like there was a new feature rolled out very recently to change accounts. This is great!

    Hi EmilyS_726

I have to disagree with you about that is is by design.
Selecting teams account to use in meetings has worked before in New Teams but after some update it's not available anymore.

My phone app asks which account I want to use when joining to the meeting but desktop app for Windows has mind of its own.

Maybe we have to join teams meeting first with phone and then transfer meeting to desktop app. I haven't tried it but it's worth to try.

Being able to choose specific account for joining meeting is essentials, because customers accounts can have limitations about recording. Hosting a meeting is difficult if all the tools are not in use.

I am sorry for not being comprehensive enough. Since you have figured out the cause of the behaviour, create a new Outlook account, add it to your Outlook and test again to confirm your suspicion.

I don't create Outlook accounts. They were created for me by my organization and the client. So, your request doesn't make sense, because I don't have control of the Outlook accounts I have.

Thank you for the screenshot. You have the exact set up like I do as I also have two business accounts linked on my Teams.

When I joined any meeting, I always made sure the account I wanted to use is the one on the top. For example, if you click on the Contractor account, it should switch to the top when you click on your profile icon. Then by default, it will be that one joining meeting. Could that be the case that at that time the contractor account was on the top when you tried to join meeting?
