Using a FQDN for Azure Site to SIte

I'm aware you can use a FQDN for the local gateway - I'd like to use it for the Azure side.
The DNS name that is generated doesn't appear to work - just resolves to 255.255.255.255
If I make my own A record it also doesn't like it.
Any suggestions?

Yes, if you have a dynamic public IP address, you can use a FQDN with a Dynamic DNS service to point to your current public IP address of your VPN device. Your Azure VPN gateway will resolve the FQDN to determine the public IP address to connect to.
May I know where you have created this A record? And is that FQDN publicly resolvable?
