Teams PWA on Linux goes to AWAY no matter what

I am using PWA Teams on Ubuntu 23.04. Tried both with Chrome and Edge, but if I am not with the teams window open and hovering or typing on it, it goes away a few minutes later. So I set the status to "available", minimize the window or just leave it open on another monitor or on background and it will ALWAYS GO TO AWAY a few minutes later, despite the desktop os active and working on other apps.

I found the "workaround" of setting a different status and setting the duration, this does not work for two reasons. First, the available status is not there for setting duration; second even if I choose a status I don't want to be in, away will kick in after a few minutes.

If the Linux app was retired on the basis that this PWA version works, well... It should at least work.

Thanks in advance.

Someone at Microsoft must understand that the PWA doesn't seem to notice activity outside of the active browser window.

Is there a workaround for this?

Here are the steps for Chrome:

    1. Open Google Chrome and go to the website you want to manage permissions for, in this case, Teams.
    2. Once you're on the website, click on the padlock icon to the left of the web address in the address bar.
    3. This will open a dropdown menu. In the dropdown menu, you will see a "Site settings" option. Click on it.
    4. This will take you to the site settings page for that specific website. Here, you can customize various permissions for the website.
    5. Look for the "Your device use" permission option. Make sure it's set to "Allow."
    6. After setting the permission, you can close the site settings tab.

I'm currently testing this, let's cross our fingers!

I found the answer in Microsoft Edge (running Teams on Linux as a PWA). You need to give the app permission for "your device use". Since I did that, I'm no longer set as away while I'm using other apps.

In Edge, the permission can be granted via edge://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https://teams.microsoft.com

I assume it is similar in Chrome.
