Cannot use Teams despite a subscription

I have the Microsoft Essentials subscription, which states that I can use MS Teams, however after logging in, and verifying that I indeed am subscribed (and I get billed monthly), when I try to use Teams, it says "Your're missing out ...." and I cannot use Teams. If I try to "sign up for free", it says the user account does not exist.

Please help resolve this annoying issue.

I resolved the issue today. There are two Microsoft Teams Essentials licenses to choose from. The only way to tell which one you have is to go back to the "Purchase Services" page and search for "Teams Essentials." Both will come up as options; an indicator should tell you which one you have. The description for the one you probably need will say, "Microsoft Teams Essentials is a paid AAD-based Teams standalone SKU for small and medium businesses..."

This is a super easy mistake to make. It took days of company downtime and multiple Microsoft tickets to finally get a tech who knew the details and could recognize it.

The naming scheme for these two license types needs to be changed to be more descriptive of what they do.

My understanding was that Team Essentials allowed use of the Teams app for virtual meetings.

The use of Teams is for a small business, it is possible I created a personal account instead of a business account?

Thank you for trying to help, I hope the issue can be resolved.

    Dear Robert Toth1,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

Based on your description, you're having trouble accessing Teams despite having a Microsoft Essentials subscription.

To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps:

    1. Make sure that you are using the correct login credentials for your account.
    2. Check if your account is assigned a Teams license. Please go to User Details Panel - Microsoft 365 admin center, click on your user name and check. If you are not pretty sure, kindly provide a screenshot and I will check it for you.

    .

    1. If you are using Teams web(https://teams.microsoft.com/), clear your browser cache and cookies, and then try logging in to Teams again.
    2. Try accessing Teams from a different device or browser to see if the issue persists.

If none of these steps work, please contact Microsoft support for further assistance. They will be able to help you resolve the issue and get you up and running with Teams. Please go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request. The support engineers there have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket: Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help. The engineers in related team have higher permission and resources than us to help check the root cause from background directly.

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope the information helps! If there is any update or I misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know. I will continue to assist you. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

    Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderato
