When running teams on both my phone and the PC app, the status only updates from the phone and is always in away mode (as it's running in the background). I've tried closing the phone app and resetting my teams status on the PC app as a workaround, but it remains as away. I've seen many threads on this however there seems to be no real solution. I primarily work on my PC and I don't want the mobile app forcing an incorrect and unfixable status just because I open it once.

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I do understand why the issue is occurring, it's unfortunate Microsoft has chosen not to find a fix for this (like taking status from the device that's currently in use), closing the phone ap after every time I use it is neither intuitive nor user friendly at all.

Additionally, when I follow your steps above and close the mobile app, ensure it's not running in the background, and then change my teams status on the PC app. This does not fix my status, it remains as "away" even after closing and restarting the PC app. I'd like a fix to this, and I'd prefer it to be one that doesn't force me to manage and close apps and change statuses.

I'll say again this is broken functionality that should be fixed and your workaround, if it worked, is far from user friendly. I work in IT/IS for a large healthcare organization and if this was a "solution" I gave to one of our end users they'd laugh and wonder if I should still be in this role.

Hi James, I'm Joshua and I am happy to help.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue!

This issue can occur when the Teams mobile app is running in the background on your phone. To resolve this, you can try the following:

Close the Teams mobile app on your phone to ensure it is not running in the background.

On your PC, go to your Teams settings and set your status to Available or whatever status you want.

If the issue persists, you can try logging out of the Teams mobile app and then logging back in again.

Another solution is to disable the background activity of the mobile app by going to the app settings on your phone and disabling it.

It's important to note that the mobile app status will not override the PC app status if you have set it manually.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,
    Joshua.

    Hi James,

I understand the frustration with the current situation. The issue you're experiencing is a known limitation. The steps I provided earlier are a workaround to this issue, but I understand that it may not be a perfect solution.

You can try submitting feedback through the Teams app.

As a workaround, you can also try using Teams on the web instead of the PC app, as the web version may not have the same issue as the mobile app.

I apologize if my previous response did not fully address your concern, I understand how this can be frustrating and I hope the workaround or the feature request can solve the issue for you.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,
    Joshua.
