You need to have an antivirus software installed and up-to-date to have any hope of avoiding the object model guard without editing the registry. This will show in File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Programmatic Access. https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/054e066e-911b-4ede-b9e8-d51f58e631fa?platform=QnA

If you don't have valid AV or still get the prompt. the following is from my article at https://www.slipstick.com/developer/change-programmatic-access-options/

You need to set these keys if antivirus is valid but you still get the dialog:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security DWORD: ObjectModelGuard Value: 2

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\outlook\security DWORD: PromptOOMSend Value: 2 DWORD: AdminSecurityMode Value: 3 DWORD: promptoomaddressinformationaccess Value: 2 DWORD: promptoomaddressbookaccess Value: 2

A ready to use reg key for Outlook 2016 and newer is here: https://www.slipstick.com/doit/ObjectModelGuard-2016.reg

    Hi Edward,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. The features being greyed out in Outlook's Trust Centre programmatic access settings is a security measure to prevent unauthorised programs from accessing your Outlook data.

There are two possible reasons why the programmatic access settings might be greyed out:

You don't have administrator rights on the computer. Enabling programmatic access can be a security risk, so Microsoft restricts it to administrators by default. Your antivirus software is interfering. Some antivirus software can block programmatic access to Outlook. Here are a couple of things you can try:

Run Outlook as administrator. This will only allow you to change the settings for the current Outlook session, but it may be enough to resolve the issue you're having.

Close Outlook if it's open Right-click on the Outlook icon and select "Run as administrator" Go to File > Options > Trust Centre > Trust Centre Settings > Programmatic Access Make the changes you want Close Outlook Check your antivirus software. Consult your antivirus software's documentation to see if it has any settings that can block programmatic access to Outlook. You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus software to see if that's the problem. Warning: Disabling your antivirus software makes your computer more vulnerable to malware, so only do this as a troubleshooting step.

    Thanks Furkaan,

I tried above steps on a laptop that does not have antivirus and also started outlook with administrator but still programmatic access on outlook is still greyed out.

    Diane

I'm running OL 2013 on WIN 64bit PC - is my regedit location different .. ie Computer\HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook ? Is this where I need to make the changes vs. Computer\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0 (no Outlook folder here).... I don't have the Security folder under either location. Also stays greyed out even running as "administrator"

While waiting for our reply I did try your reg file for 15.0 ...(it made the reg changes) I still cannot change the trust settings (Programmatic Access) Greyed out and no box checked (Never warn me ...)

    Thanks
