URL Rewrite Module Error

When the webpage is executed, the error "HTTP Error 500.52-URL Rewrite Module Error" will appear, which is complete as follows:

This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".

From the message, I have tried to modify the sessionGroup in "C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\applicationHost.config" and change the overrideModeDefault of allowedServerVariables inside from Deny to Allow. But still did not solve the problem.

    Hi @exwsx

There are many reasons for this error, sunc as the inconsistency of the web.config file, you can try the following methods to solve the problem:

    1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager > Servername > Sites > example.com > URL rewrite
    2. Select each rewrite rule and disable them by clicking on Disable Rule
    3. Enable each rewrite rule back by clicking Enable rule

If it still doesn’t work, you can refer to the same problem here. In this link, there are different solutions.
