    Dear Vanessa Martin2

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know the scenario you met. Once a shared channel is created in Microsoft Teams, it cannot be changed to a different channel type, such as a standard or private channel. This is a limitation of the platform.

If you need a different type of channel, you will need to create a new channel with the desired type. Here are the steps to create different types of channels:

    1. Standard Channel: This type of channel is open for all team members, and anything posted is searchable by others. To create a standard channel, go to the team name, select "More options" > "Manage channels," then tap "Add" and enter a name and description (optional).
    2. Private Channel: Only users who are owners or members of the private channel can access it. To create a private channel, go to the team name, select "More options" > "Manage channels," then tap "Add" and choose "Private" under the privacy settings.

Thanks in advance for your understanding! Your patience and cooperation will be highly appreciated. Hope you all the best! Happy new year to you!

    Sincerely,

    Katherine
