Bluetooth headset microphone not working in teams

Hi, I am using a Bluetooth headset for calls on teams and the microphone shows an error message that it is not working. The headset individually works for both speaker and microphone when connected to other devices, only teams on the laptop is having an issue.

I have tried removing the handsfree telephony options in the Bluetooth setting, however this option is pulling in all surrounding voices and noise as it uses the laptop microphone instead of headset microphone.

Would greatly appreciate any pointers to resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Hi Eben, thank you for the response.

I am using Surface Headphones and started seeing this issue recently. Teams was working with multiple other devices previously. I have tried the above microphone privacy setting update/check etc., the microphone itself works with recorder or video stream recording, but it does not work with teams.

The update to uncheck handsfree telephony works, but this would use laptop mic instead and pulls in all surrounding audio and noise as well.

    Dear Hima Yenigalla,

    Good morning.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Bluetooth headset on Teams

First i would like to inform you that  there is a list of certified devices that are well compactable with the new Teams app.

If you are not using certified devices with new teams, you will face some unexpected issues. It's true that sometimes an uncertified device can work, but for a moment. Therefore, Microsoft's recommendation to use a certified device with the Teams app.

Please review the list of the certified device, Headsets, Earbuds, and Headphones | Teams devices (microsoft.com) and Phones and Devices for Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams. and let us know the headset microphone Model and manufacturer you are using in team

Typically when you are using certified device and you microphone doesn't work on teams it is advice that to use this link : My microphone isn't working in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support to troubleshooting the issue. Follow the steps via this link and let us know. Also check this thread information : [Fix found!] Bluetooth headphones not working in MS Teams after - Microsoft Community However, to better understand the problem and provide a solution, we need more details from you, please provide us with the following information. Thank you.

1-Please  make sure Teams has permission to use your microphone. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and ensure that Teams is allowed to access your microphone.

2-Some users have found that disabling the Bluetooth LE Enumerator in Device Manager helps. To do this, open Device Manager, find "Bluetooth LE Enumerator," right-click, and select "Disable"1.

3-Please Configure Audio Devices in Teams: In Teams, go to Settings > Devices and ensure your Bluetooth headset is selected for both the speaker and microphone.

4-Please in the Bluetooth settings, go to your headset's properties and uncheck services like "Audio Sink" and "Unknown Service"2. This can sometimes resolve conflicts.

5Pleasetry battery Saving Mode: Ensure that Teams is not in battery-saving mode, as this can sometimes restrict microphone access

We look forward to hearing from you. We will continue to assist you based on the information you provide to us. I would like to thank you sincerely for your patience and cooperation. Kind regards Eben Ezer Tres Microsoft Community Moderator
