Why Python in Excel code won't run?

I'm in the Beta Insiders program on my WIndows 10 desktop; and Excel with Python is there .... but does not work. If I fire it up on the ribbon with INSERT>PYTHON or with =PY , Python starts up but even the simplest code does not execute (whether I try to read some data into a dataframe, or even just execute 1+1, I get an error every time ... #BUSY! .... then ... #PYTHON!)

I've chatted with Microsoft support extensively. They did a Microsoft 365 "Quick repair". Didn't help.

Then they referred me to this community whom they assured me would be able to resolve my INSIDER problem.

PLEASE HELP!

I have tried all the recommended suggestions shy of reinstalling. I have the exact same problem under Windows 10 on my desktop and windows 11 on my laptop. So, it’s obviously not the installation of Office.

I have spoken to A few different levels of support at Microsoft and have an open ticket. They have researched the issue and find numerous other individuals having the exact same problem, and have referred the issue to the Insiders Beta Development Team. And they have assured me that I will be among the first to know when they resolve the problem.

Thanks for your reply and thoughts, however ...

Well, some update must have been applied; but, it didn't actually solve the problem, just changed it slightly.

Now when I go to execute any Python code, it still doesn't execute, but the error message has now changed.

It used to say #PYTHON! ..... now it says #BLOCKED! (License Required)

And, FYI, I am signed into my account and I do subscribe to Microsoft 365 Apps for Business.

    Understood, Bebop99.

It will probably be resolved via an update. Thus, this ends up being a waiting game for you.

So, I'll keep your thread active for now and have other community members jump-in with suggestions or updates.

Thanks again for choosing Microsoft! We’re here when you need us.

    Respectfully,

    Glenn

    Good day, Bebop99.

Thanks for reaching out to our Microsoft Community Forum.

We understand that the public preview of Python in Excel isn't working for you. This is despite signing up to the Microsoft 365 Insider Program and using the latest build of the Beta Channel of Microsoft 365.

As explained in the article below, "Python in Excel is gradually rolling out to Public Preview for those in the Microsoft 365 Insiders program Beta Channel. This feature will roll out to Excel for Windows first, starting with build 16818, and then to the other platforms at a later date."

    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-blog/introducing-python-in-excel-the-best-of-both-worlds-for-data/ba-p/3905482

Emphasis on the word "gradually" by the article's author. This article when first published back in August actually had this to say:

    ..

In any case, here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Make sure that you have the latest version of Excel installed. You can check for updates by going to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. Refer to link below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/install-office-updates-2ab296f3-7f03-43a2-8e50-46de917611c5

    1. Try running Excel in safe made using the steps below and see if that resolves the issue.

    1. Check your antivirus software to make sure that it's not blocking Python in Excel from running and as an additional step apply the clean boot procedure in the link below.

    1. Since you've done a quick repair how about a full repair as described in the link below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

    1. On the off chance that none of the suggestions above work, it might be time to manually uninstall Office and then reinstall it again. Refer to links below.

Feel free to reply to this thread if you need further clarification.

    Sincerely,
