Errors encountered while saving

When saving Excel encounters errors, see below:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

<recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main"><logFileName>error093680_01.xml</logFileName><summary>Errors were detected in file 'C:\Users\shane\Documents\Calendar 2023.xlsm'</summary><additionalInfo><info>Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to save your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.</info></additionalInfo></recoveryLog>

Clicking File, Close did nothing. Exit worked without saving.

This file has been in continual use since at least 2013. There are no sophisticated formulas in the file. There are some macros but they have not been modified in years.

I am part of the Office 365 Insider program. I am running on Windows 11 beta. I ran update now in Office:

Microsoft 365 Insider | Excel | Windows

    Hi,

The problem is intermittent. Here are some of the things I tried:

    • You save an Excel workbook to a network drive on which you have restricted permissions. - Not on a network.
    • You save an Excel workbook to a location that does not have sufficient storage space. - 658 Gb are free.
    • The connection to the Excel workbook is lost. ??
    • There is a conflict with an antivirus software program. - I've been using Norton for 30 years and Windows Defender
    • You save an Excel workbook that is shared. - No shared files.
    • The 218-character path limitation is exceeded when you save an Excel workbook. No - C:\Users\shane\Documents
Tried this - didn't work Save the workbook by using a new file name
Tried this - didn't work Move the original worksheets to a new workbook
Did not try - intermittent problem need to wait for reoccurrence. Save the file as a different Excel file type
Did not try - intermittent problem need to wait for reoccurrence. Try to save the workbook to another location
Many new files save to this location. Try to save a new workbook to the original location
Did not try. - intermittent problem need to wait for reoccurrence. Try to save the workbook in safe mode
    • Third-party add-ins - all Excel add-ins are Microsoft's or ones I've written in Excel VBA and have used for years.
    • Antivirus software conflict - Norton 360 & Windows Defender (conflict?)
    • Restricted permissions - the file is password encrypted via Excel's file save command. Permissions are not in play. This file has been used for over 10 years always with encryption.
    • File name length - "Calendar 2023.xlsm"
    • File size - 427 Kb
