I am a sole trader and I have a business license. I have only one device that I am using so I do not need separate installation management systems. I have tried to join the MS 365 insider and beta channel to get the python in Excel but I have not been successful despite following the instructions on the MS 365 insider website. I need step by step instructions on how I can do this. I have tried to run a script for changing the channel but it does not seem to work.

    Hello! Marit Bedhall

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

As per checking the shared information that you're having trouble getting Python in Excel. Just to set your expectations that Python in Excel is gradually rolling out to Excel for Windows customers using the Beta Channel. At this time, the feature is not available on other platforms.

    Allow me to ask:

    1. May I know what version and edition of Office installed in your computer?
      • You can open any Office apps
      • Go to File > Accounts - on the right side you can see Product Information
    2. May I know what @domain and who is hosting your email account? example for @domains: Gmail.com, Yahoo.com, Outlook.com/Hotmail.com
      • May I know if the account is for Work/School use? or Personal (Hotmail/Outlook.com) use?

Here are the step-by-step instructions to join the Microsoft 365 Insider program and enable Python in Excel:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Insider website (https://insider.office.com/en-us/join/home) and sign up for the program using your Microsoft account.
    2. Once you've signed up, go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (https://admin.microsoft.com/) and select "Settings" from the left-hand menu.
    3. Under "Settings," select "Org settings" and then "Services."
    4. Scroll down to "Office software download settings" and select "Edit."
    5. Under "Choose how you want to manage updates," select "Monthly Enterprise Channel (Preview)" and then click "Save."
    6. Open Excel and go to "File" > "Options" > "General."
    7. Scroll down to "User Interface options" and check the box next to "Enable experimental features."
    8. Click "OK" to save your changes and restart Excel.
    9. Once Excel has restarted, go to the "Data" tab and select "Get Data" > "From Other Sources" > "From Python."
    10. Follow the prompts to install the Python integration and start using Python in Excel.

Please note: Python in Excel is available in Excel for Windows. The feature is not available on the following platforms.

    • Excel for Mac
    • Excel on the web
    • Excel for iPad
    • Excel for iPhone
    • Excel for Android

I am trying to follow these instructions so I can install Excel-Python, but can't.

Here is a screenshot of my account. I do not have MS insider. I only have office insider. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Everyone is talking about Python in a cell, but no one says a thing about the IDE. Was it dropped as a feature. I remember months ago all the screen shots of what the IDE was going to look like and the new menu items on the Developer tab, but there's been no word for many months. That's the main reason I joined the beta program.
