I have a problem with WSUS updating Windows 2019 servers. The updating server is set to just get updates (no downloading). I checked in the console and some servers are shown as requring updates. When I switched to those I got "no updates", but when I selected to check updates from Microsoft Windows Update site, updates were found and downloaded.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Have we approved the required updates for windows server 2019 on WSUS server?
We can also check WindowsUpdate.log on client to find the Service ID, Service IDs indicate which update source is being scanned.

Have we checked the WindowsUpdate.log on client to find the Service ID?

I checked the log file, and noticed some errors:

2021.07.07 10:20:19.0855492 5764 2716 Misc FAILED [8024000C] LoadHistoryEventFromRegistry completed

Exit code is as follows:

Some updates are detected properly:

2021.07.07 04:20:08.5302284 1900 1772 DownloadManager PurgeExpiredFiles::Found 0 expired files to delete.
2021.07.07 04:20:08.5303213 1900 1772 DownloadManager PurgeExpiredUpdates: Found 2 non expired updates.
2021.07.07 04:20:08.6052319 1900 1772 DownloadManager PurgeExpiredUpdates: Found 27 expired updates.

The thing is that client reports that there are no updates. Server reports that machine is not fully updated, so I switch to the client and select to check updates online, and then missing are detected and downloaded.

Try to run the powershell script on the servers to see the update source:

It's recommended to check whether the updates are downloaded on the server.
First enable file status, then check the icon of the updates, if they are downloaded, the icon should be a green arrow to the right like below:

I am not downloading the updates. I configured WSUS just to approve updates.

This is where the problem is, if the updates are not downloaded, the clients can not scan the updates, so the updates will not show in clients.

My internet connection is to slow for that. Is there any other way to avoid that issue?
