Javascript error upon turning on Teams. Failed to get 'download' path with teams version .1161

The standard download folder in Windows is redirected to a network drive when users are on site. Outside the network, that drive becomes unavailable unless connected to our VPN. When working at home, Teams crashes because it can't connect to the download folder unless the user is connected to our VPN.

Using an earlier version of Teams works around this issue but Teams auto-updates back to the problem version.
Changing the redirection works around this issue but when the user is on site again the GPO reapplies redirect.

This has only become an issue with Teams version 1.4.00.11161 and appears to only be an issue on that particular version.

There has been this reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftTeams/comments/ng42jp/failed_to_get_download_path/) of the same issue by someone else with the exact same symptoms along with this Q&A post (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/395754/javascript-error-upon-turning-on-teams-failed-to-g.html) so this is not an isolated issue with our environment.

As I know, this is a known issue. PG is working on this issue. If there is any update, I will share with you here as soon as possible.
