Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server – Event ID 20499

Hi.

I have rds farm. Windows server 2019 with all updates. One of the servers stopped allowing users and administrators over rdp today.

From logs:

Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server – Event ID 20499

I can connect remotely to the server via mmc. But the RDP doesn't work.

I found two solutions with reg key.

1. fQueryUserConfigFromLocalMachine - But it is not required for Windows Server 2016\19
2. DisableTaskOffload

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks for your query.

1.Can you RDP to the server before today?
2.Did you try the reg key of "DisableTaskOffload"?;
or "I solved it by going into the Remote Desktop Connection -> Experience tab and ensuring I didn't have "Detect connection quality automatically" selected. I also unchecked everything under "Allow the following".";
or "Disable service Smart Card Device Enumeration: Go to Run --> Services --> Smart Card Device Enumeration --> Disable"

3.What about "unchecking the printers and drives option leaving only the clipboard checked at the client side"?
