CMG Service Name Reuse

Hi All,

Hope this is a straightforward question.

My CMG is causing me problems and I am looking to rebuild it. As far as i know all deployment/service name are unique. eg. Name@Root .net. I only have the one instance which is also acting a cloud DP.

Will I be able to use the same service name if I was to delete my CMG and recreate it.

The article below has a section on name reuse - but states the following:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/clients/manage/cmg/modify-cloud-management-gateway

"Important
This process assumes that you already have at least two CMG services, and are replacing one of them at a time. You need to have at least one active CMG for internet-based clients.
"

Please help and advice.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
Mo

    Hi, @Mo Alom
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Are you using a test environment or a production environment?
The message in the docs means:
We have to make sure our internet client management won't get impacted when we perform this displacement action in a production environment. We should have an additional CMG for internet client management.

If you are using a test environment, it's OK to delete it and recreate it with the same service name, but your test internet client will temporarily lose management.

Here is a guidance for you to properly remove SCCM CMG:
