Serial number

Hi ,I insert my USB device and go to device manager and take propeties on my connection and in details I select value as Device Instance Path and receive serial number as: 6&C8F8622&0&0001
I think this serial number is not correct because of &s in it. How can I find serial number refer to value I have received?

    Device Instance Path/ID is not the Serial Number : Device Instance ID
