Hi,

I manage mailbox noreply, with multiples errors of server. But I don't know if the problem is on the side of the customer or mine.

The most frequently are:

  1. Error transferring to mail262.MESSAGELABS.COM; Maximum hop count exceeded.  Message probably in a routing loop.
  2. 551.5.7.0
  3. 550 5.4.310 DNS domain autodiscover. does not exist [Message=InfoDomainNonexistent] [LastAttemptedServerName=autodiscover.]

4. 550 5.1.1 Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

  1. 554 5.4.14 Hop count exceeded - possible mail loop ATTR34 [VE1EUR03FT045.eop-EUR03.prod.protection.outlook.com]
  2. 550 5.1.10 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipientNotFound; Recipient not found by SMTP address lookup550 Invalid Recipient - https://community.mimecast.com/docs/DOC-1369#550 [st3zyih1P4CDc6KuY4Pb5Q.us287]

7. 554 delivery error: dd Requested mail action aborted

  1. 554 5.4.6 Too many hops

I need to know the meaning for each error.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Beatrice

    Hi Beatrice,

Based on your description, the mailbox you managed cannot receive emails from any senders. And most of the error codes indicate that the mail server of the sender side cannot find the recipients' mail server because of the invalid recipient email address, but mail server keeps trying to send emails out. That's why message is probably in a routing loop. You may find some error codes listed in the article Email non-delivery reports in Office 365. But different mail provider would have different error codes to display in Non-Delivery Reports (NDR).

So first of all, I'd like to confirm if it's an Office 365 online mailbox. If so, please check if you have correctly configured DNS records for your domain, especially the MX record since it's used to route incoming emails to your organization. For example, if your domain is contoso.com, then the MX record value should be contoso-com.mail.protection.outlook.com. For your reference, see Create DNS records at any DNS hosting provider for Office 365.

If the issue persists, I'd like to collect the following information to better understand your situation.

    1. Can the mailbox receive any emails?
    2. Is the mailbox an Office 365 mailbox?
    3. If so, is it in Exchange online environment?
    4. Could you please provide some screenshots of the DNS configuration of the mailbox's domain? You can send to us in Private Message to protect your privacy.

    Regards,

    Marvin

    Hello Beatrice,

How do you manage noreply? Explain detailed steps which have set up.

Are you using Office 365 Exchange online service? Where is the MX record pointed?

Is this happen to every customer?

There are several reason to get those of non-delivery reports.  The Delivery Status Notification usually gives more details about the servers involved in a Non-Delivery Report.

Exchange NDRs are designed to be easy to read and understand by email users and administrators.

If you are using Office 365 Exchange online you check the NDR codes  for the most common bounce messages and NDRs that you might encounter in Office 365 here.

Although, your error indicating MESSAGELABS if you using their service should contact them first.

    Thanks,
