Hi Beatrice,
Based on your description, the mailbox you managed cannot receive emails from any senders. And most of the error codes indicate that the mail server of the sender side cannot find the recipients' mail server because of the invalid recipient email address, but mail server keeps trying to send emails out. That's why message is probably in a routing loop. You may find some error codes listed in the article Email non-delivery reports in Office 365. But different mail provider would have different error codes to display in Non-Delivery Reports (NDR).
So first of all, I'd like to confirm if it's an Office 365 online mailbox. If so, please check if you have correctly configured DNS records for your domain, especially the MX record since it's used to route incoming emails to your organization. For example, if your domain is contoso.com, then the MX record value should be contoso-com.mail.protection.outlook.com. For your reference, see Create DNS records at any DNS hosting provider for Office 365.
If the issue persists, I'd like to collect the following information to better understand your situation.
- Can the mailbox receive any emails?
- Is the mailbox an Office 365 mailbox?
- If so, is it in Exchange online environment?
- Could you please provide some screenshots of the DNS configuration of the mailbox's domain? You can send to us in Private Message to protect your privacy.
Regards,
Marvin
