Missing folder pane in `hotmail

Hello,

For awhile now my 'folder pane' in hotmail has disappeared.

Inbox, sent, deleted, etc. are now missing.

I checked online and was told to click on the 'three bars' at the top left but this does not appear either.  I tried clearing the cache and signing in more than once but no luck.  I cannot send email as I do not have the New selection etc.  (I am using my desktop to write this email).

On my screen at this moment I have a "Search area - which does not work although it does have a rolldown menu that it too does not work + Meet Now, Skype, a couple of unknown icons, the gear, ?, ... and the Account Manager for my account.  Nothing else appears (the rest is completely blank).

Is there anybody out there that could lend a hand?

I am using an Ipad (oldish).

Since iOS is up to version 14, it may just be that your iPad is obsolete.

However, if you haven't already tried viewing the web page in Desktop mode, it may be worth a try to see if it will do the trick.

If you need directions on how to do this, please let me know.

    Warm Regards,

    Joe

    Hello,

I checked and JavaScript was enabled.

I then wanted to install another brower however no luck. Tried Google Chrome and it told me that it was not compatible with this ipad.

I in turn tried Edge and it mentioned that I need to update to iOS 10.0.

I tried as instructed to get iOS 10.0 but without success. Tried to get it through itunes and it wasn`t happening. As you can tell I am a computer whiz!!

I checked in General hoping that an update would be there but nothing. It says iOS 9.3.5 is up to date.

I will keep trying but wonder if you have any comments.

    Thank You for your help.

Thank you for the updated information and the picture. My first thought is that it is a scripting error that the browser isn't able to handle, as you and your friend are both using an older iPad.

Could you try looking at the following and verifying the settings are correct?

Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced, and see if JavaScript is enabled.

If it isn't, then turn it on.

If it is enabled, then I would suggest installing another browser (I prefer Edge, but Chrome would be good, too). Try opening Hotmail again, and see if it is rendering correctly in the alternate browser.

Another thing that you could try is to view it in Desktop mode, and see if the site loads that way.

Please let me know if any of these suggestions work, or if I should keep exploring other options.

    Warm Regards,

    Joe

Hello,. Thank you for getting back to me.  I use Safari in this case.  For your info I know somebody else who has the same problem and is also using an older ipad.  I will try to send you another picture in hopes that it will be clearer.  Basically no folder pane to be found.    If I click in Search (see screenshot) a drop-down menu appears with all the folders that should be in the pane.  I have tried to select one but nothing happens unfortunately and I cannot move them.

    Thank you

Hello! My name is Joe, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

I can't see the picture very well, so I don't know if you are using Safari or another browser. Do you have multiple browsers on your iPad?

    Warm Regards,

    Joe
