Hello,

I am getting security warning emails from outlook to my alternative (backup) email on gmail.

This is how it looks like:

First, as you can see email of sender is valid:  ******@accountprotection.microsoft.com

When I click on "Recover account" button it send me to outlook login page

But in message there is this: We think someone else accessed the Microsoft****account ne*****@gmail.com

Why would outlook warn me for this security reason for GMAIL account? I don't understand what's happening but I think its a error...

Nevermind, its alternative (backup) email for my outlook, I signed in outlook email and checked sign-in attempts, there is a lot attempts but few days ago:

They did not succeed with login, but this was few days ago why I'm getting security warning email today?

I know why is there so many attempts login, I used that email to register on a lot websites for example: 000webhost, 500px.. They were hacked few years ago.. But I changed my password and I am using bitwarden password manager, there is no way they can bruteforce passwod (if they are even trying to).

I am very careful with my security, there is no way I have viruses or anything like that, but I am curious what is happening and why I am getting security warning emails?

Someone else could have. If someone knows your gmail address, they could create a Microsoft account using it. A Microsoft username ID just something that looks like an address. I'll note, however, that the first image you entered doesn't show the full address. You don't know the characters that come after the "ne" and before the @. The only thing you know for sure is that the warning came to you. What do you see when you hover the mouse over the "Recover account" button? (Note: NEVER click links in messages you don't understand.) What do you see when you hover the mouse over the "make your account more secure" link?

If I understood you correctly, you mean I used "Myemail @ gmail.com" to login in outlook email on https://login.live.com/ ?

    I never did that

Hi. I'm Brian, an Independent Advisor.

Apparently you have used a gmail address as the user ID for a Microsoft account. Any address can be used as a Microsoft user ID although that's less useful than using an address that employs a Microsoft domain.

My activity information almost always leaves out some of the login attempts. I've reported this to Microsoft in the past but nothing was ever done.
