Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
Hi SteveV94,
Thank you for posting this to the Community Forum. I hope you're doing good today despite having a question about the security procedure of your Outlook email account. Let's try to get to the bottom of this concern.
One of Microsoft's priority is the safety and security of your account. Thank you for asking this question. This will help every community member that has the same question. Indeed, you will not be logged out of the Outlook desktop app when you changed your password. However, when you go back to your Outlook email. You will not receive any emails and you can't also send one. It will ask for the new credential. If by accident someone had access to your email and password and they opened your Outlook email account. they will only see recent emails but they can't receive and send future emails if they want to as long as you have immediately changed your password.
I would also like to recommend these Microsoft articles, for you to use as a reference on how to make your account safe and secure.
