I no longer have access to my hotmail account (old or new email ) after adding an alias. On trying to login to hotmail I'm told the account no longer exists. On trying to add the account again to outlook I'm told it is part of a reserved domain. Can anyone help me urgently please to get it back ? I have a feeling its gone for 30 days but I need back as soon as possible. Any suggestions welcome and much appreciated.

Hello AndyWDF,     Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate that you've taken the time to post your concern here in Microsoft Community Forum. We understand that you’re having trouble accessing your Hotmail account after adding an alias. Let’s check on this together and find ways to address this matter. It appears that your Hotmail account has been deleted or on the time  that you add an alias with your Hotmail account the account you've used as an alias was setup as a primary account and Hotmail account got deleted.

Microsoft server or system would not tell you that your account is part of a reserved domain if ever the Hotmail account never got deleted and leave it as a secondary account. The account alias you've added under Hotmail account overrides everything and right you can only log in with the account alias you've added. However if you still want to access your Hotmail mailbox and everything associated with that account would have been deleted it if didn't use the same folders as your Hotmail account that was set as the primary ( prior adding an alias).

Unfortunately, once you deleted the Hotmail address, it is permanently unavailable for any kind of future use, either by you or any one else.

    Important:

    • Are you sure? If you remove an alias that's an email address from a Microsoft domain (like @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), you're permanently deleting the alias and it can't be associated with any Microsoft account again.
    • If you're removing a primary alias, you'll need to choose another primary alias before it can be removed.
    • If you remove an email address from a non-Microsoft domain (like @gmail.com), then it usually becomes immediately available to be added as an alias on another Microsoft account.
    • If you want to remove a connected email account, read Remove a connected account from Outlook.com.

    Hi  AndyWDF,

Thank you for getting back to us.

As much as we love to help you re-open the account however Microsoft accounts is completely managed and handled by an automated server and we do not have a manual access to it, any Microsoft accounts that are being removed or deleted after adding an alias are completely deleted from Microsoft server and that's the reason why it says that your Microsoft account doesn't exist or it's a reserved domain.

Our support agents and advocates can't do more than you can do for yourself with the account recovery. They don't have the ability to send you password reset links or provide you other ways to access or re-open the account.

Thank you so much for your understanding!

Sincerely,        Juhn Jac,Consumer M365 Forum Moderator

    Hi John,

Its still ongoing - none of the answers above worked.

Is there any way just to contact Microsoft to get the account re-opened?

    Thanks

    Andrew
