Hotmail opens automatically

I use a Hotmail account in Windows 10.. Even when I sign out of Hotmail and go onto another activity I get notifications that I've receive an email on Hotmail and, if I click on the notification my email opens up (without my having re-signed in). This probably seems like a great idea to some, but I only want the contents of the email account accessible ON DEMAND. The email app in Windows 10 has, unilaterally "decided" that my account should remain open . How do I undo that?   I don't want to passwork the computer , either, so that solution isn;t the one I'm looking for. Can I turn off the Windows 10 email app?

You are using Outlook on the web correct? (This is the outlook on the web forum.)

If so, go to Outlook.com's settings: Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > General > Notifications to turn the browser notifications off.

If you are using Outlook desktop software and Windows 10, open Settings and search for Notifications. Find outlook in the list and disable notifications.

    Hi Jerry,

    Is the browser open?

Open Outlook.com's settings: Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > General > Notifications to turn the browser notifications off.

This link should get you there:
