Multiple browser tabs created when browsing in Outlook 365 (Outlook on the Web)

Hi there,

I received an update to Outlook this morning (the one with the smaller mail, calendar and people tab icons) and ever since, whenever I switch between tabs (from email to calendar and back again, for example) a new browser tab is created each time.

I've read many similar complaints, stretching back all the way to 2017, but this has only started to happen to me since this morning.

I have tried Chrome and Firefox (no-one uses IE anymore, as suggested in the previous posts) and I get the same issue. The only thing I can do is "manage pop-ups" which then stops me from switching completely!

This is an horrendous UX - can't understand why this is still an issue 5 years later (and keeps being perpetuated in new releases, it would seem).

Is there anyway to switch this back to the old behaviour, that maybe wasn't possible until recently? I've looked at the Outlook options and there is nothing that I can find.

Thanks very much.

    Hi Nosaj2101,

Thank you for posting into the Microsoft Community.

Based on your mentioned description, I totally understand your concern. Meanwhile, I have also checked it from my side, but at present there is not setting option available inside Outlook web app to disable or achieve this thing. Your kind cooperation will be highly appreciated into the forum community.

    Stay blessed and stay safe.

    Regards,

    Darpan

It's incredibly annoying - so much so, I tried to revert to the Outlook desktop app instead, but my organisation has blocked it...

I have the very same issue since the latest update. It is painful to use.

If this is an intentional update then there should be an option to revert for people who want to. Clicking around between emails and calendar is opening loads of tabs.
