How to disable MS VBA for Outlook Add-in

Hello,

I was using Office 2016 and recently switched to Office 365.  Today, I got a notification from Outlook that "Microsoft VBA for Outlook Add-In" continues to create crashes and thus disables it.  I enabled it under File > Manage COM Add-In.  When Outlook started to "not responding", I went there to disable it.  I could find it from Add-Ins list, but cannot find a way to disable it from COM Add-Ins.  How can I disable it again?  Thanks.

    Hi Joosujin,

If you see “Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin” listed as COM Add-ins under “Active Application Add-ins”, it should appear under Manage COM Add-ins and is available to be disabled. If you could not find it under COM Add-ins, please kindly check from File > Manage COM Add-ins to see if it is listed there and can be disabled.

If not, to further check if it is related to the current Outlook profile, please kindly switch to a new Outlook profile and add your account there to see if you can find the Add-in from File > Options > Manage COM Add-ins.

If the problem persists, please kindly repair your Outlook to see if it helps. If not, to check if it is related to the Outlook version, please kindly update your Outlook to see if it works.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to let us know if there are any updates from you. If none of the above works, to further help you with your problem, please kindly provide us your Outlook version (as follows) and a screenshot of the error message popped up for further analysis. Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Jasmine

    Hi Jasmine,

I've tried all you suggested. But, unfortunately, none of them worked. I still cannot see Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin under Manage COM Add-ins. If you google it, you'll see that I'm not the only one who reports this.

I'm also using Outlook 365 Apps for enterprise. I don't get any error message now, and will post it if it comes back. Does Outlook continue to check and disable it based on what it finds?

    Thanks.

I always find it irritating when a MS support person provides instructions that are not relevant to the user's OP. It would be nice if MS support personnel actually try the processes that they think will solve the issue before they actually recommend them in a posted reply. As the OP stated, there is NO option to remove, inactivate or otherwise turn off the Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin. It appears in the File > Options > Add-ins list, but does NOT appear in the Manage > COM Add-ins list. Therefore, there is no way to deactivate it. It keeps causing my Outlook to crash and not load outside of safe mode. It is really annoying that MS keeps providing updates that turn it back on. Fix it already, and provide a legitimate solution to people trying to deactivate it...permanently.
