Outlook.com - Junk E-Mail Problem / Issue

Hello everybody

I have already found here ethical entries for the following request, unfortunately no solution to it:

  • Disable Outlook.com Junk Mail Function
  • Bypass Outlook.com Junk Mail feature
  • Outlook.com Junk Mail whitelist fill correctly (does not work)

I would like to be able to carry out one of the following points successfully:

1. completely disable the Outlook.com Junk Mail feature

2. lower the sensitivity of Outlook.com Junk Mail

3. Outlook.com working whitelist

Furthermore, the automatic deletion of the junk mailbox can be deactivated or increased to, for example, 60 days?

At the moment I have a situation where even messages from Microsoft are classified as SPAM messages.

Here is the following link with the picture.

http://bit.ly/Outlook-Com_JunkMail

Use Outlook.com (WEB) with a free account.

Will activate "Office 365 Home" shortly.

Do you have a solution to this?

Thanks for your feedback.

Regards

J.

Lol, I had same thing.  Emails in there for couple of months not just 10 days.

I was still having the problem until I accidentally downloaded the Outlook 365 laptop app, as I said before I don't have 365 so I don't know how this happened - which horrifically moved 250 emails which had been filed in subfolders into Junk, not just in that app but throughout Outlook - because the standard setting on that App when downloaded is to put everything into Junk that isn't from a contact.  Still doesn't make sense why it only moved those 250 and not the 1000s of others that were also not in contacts.  I haven't been able to face refiling them yet.

Anyway, the upshot is that there is a much broader set of options in the 365 laptop(desktop) app - you can change the strength of the Junk filter!!!  I had already added my most frequent senders to the safe senders list but since changing this setting to 'only put really obvious spam in Junk, everything else goes to Inbox - the lowest setting - it has been much better across Outlook.

I have still had bizarre problems like the first time someone emails their reply comes to inbox and the next time it goes into Junk - this being someone I have initiated email contact with!!

The annoying thing is that this has coincided with the next wave of Outlook support emails (I called Microsoft Office support and moaned until the customer service offered for me to send them all my emails to Outlook support that had not been adequately dealt with and find out what was happening internally, this seems to have resulted in it being escalated to a Level 2 although I never received any acknowledgement of my emails from the representative I spoke to.  Given they were all from the same address within a short space of time they may well have gone into the Customer Support junk folder!!)  However the request for information from Outlook support was the same.  I provided information again and got another standard response.  I sent yet another email stating that I did not believe I was even talking to a human given that I had received no answers to any of my questions outside of the data I had sent them.  I then got a bit more of a detailed response finally.

Given that the 'troubleshooting' they did previously was exactly the same as this time round I doubt that is what has improved things.  As I say, I think downloading the desktop app with its extra settings has triggered something.

It does seem quite widespread as I've discovered it on my other (less crucial) Hotmail account.  I've also found community posts for iCloud mail stating similar problems - the difference being you can call Apple for free about anything and speak to someone in your own country or go into a store for help.  Outlook so hard to reach and communicate with and so it drags on for months...

    Hello everybody

Sorry if I haven't checked in for a while.

    The current status is:

    • the SPAM / JUNK mail filtering mechanism has confirmed that it's a bug and not entirely mine.
    • The ticket has been closed.
    • I can no longer understand how the status continues.

Currently I have added all my addresses as 'SafeSender'. (These were over 700 addresses. I exported them to a Microsoft Excel list and transferred them with TinyTask https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/tinytask_portable while I had 2 coffees.)

If I trigger a TEST-SPAM mail from a SafeSender address it will no longer be detected as SPAM.

    source:

    https://spamassassin.apache.org/gtube/

    ****************************************************************************************************************

    The GTUBE

This is the GTUBE -- the Generic Test for Unsolicited Bulk Email.

If your spam filter supports it, the GTUBE provides a test by which you can verify that the filter is installed correctly and is detecting incoming spam, in a similar fashion to the EICAR anti-virus test file.

Spam filter developers should add a rule, where possible, to recognise the following 68-byte string in the message body, and trigger on it:

      XJS*C4JDBQADN1.NSBN3*2IDNEN*GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL*C.34X

Note that this should be reproduced in one line, without whitespace or line breaks. A suitable mail message in RFC-822 format can be downloaded here.

This string and mail can be reproduced freely, without attribution; they are hereby placed in the public domain.

    ****************************************************************************************************************

In my opinion the whole thing is a little unsatisfactory.

    Here is the last screenshot:

    • 7 e-mails identified as SPAM/JUNK
    • 5 emails of which are from MS itself
    • 1 of 7 e-mails from Folien Express was declared as SPAM/JUNK mail
    • 1x of 50 e-mails from myself is declared as SPAM/JUNK mail (play.google.com)
    • Delete function, probably does not work correctly either *

    * DELETE FUNCTION:

"Items in "junk e-mail" are deleted after 10 days"

    Today 13.03.2020 (DD.MM.YYYY) less 10 days gives 27.02.2020. 15 days are also 10 days.

I WANT TO GO TO WORK FOR MS... 10 days work 15 days wage! ;)

I'm going to test the Outlook.com Premium feature and check if it's as "good" as the free version.

Here's a little video that I don't think the junk filter works properly.

If I add an address to the SafeList and do not say SPAM / JUNK Mail and then send the same mail again and it is SPAM / JUNK again, then that is not really well programmed, in my opinion.

    Hello Ma. Lau,

    Thanks for your reply.

    just made the user choice.

    I hope it works.

    The new Outlook.com

    https://outlook.uservoice.com/forums/601444--the-new-outlook-com

As can be seen in the picture, there are quite a few that have a problem with the SPAM / JUNK mail function.

    Thanks for the link below:

"change the level of protection in the Junk Email Filter"

I already mentioned this in my post on text line 58/59

"Overview of the Junk Email Filter

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/overview-of-the-junk-email-filter-5ae3ea8e-cf41-4fa0-b02a-3b96e21de089"

It's a shame that there is no solution here to completely deactivate the junk filter and, as already described, even Microsoft emails are classified as SPAM.

    Best Greeting

    J

    Hello J,

The Junk Email Filter checks your incoming messages automatically, but there is an option for you to control what is considered spam. See this link for more information.

Abut your second query, there is a feature where you can change the level of protection in the Junk Email Filter is available if you are using the Outlook for Office 365 or Outlook desktop app.

Any account related concern can be raised by contacting our Outlook In-App Support to further investigate the issue as we don't have enough tools or visibility why certain rules or settings did not work on your end. To reach our Outlook In-App team, click the question mark icon from your Outlook.com homepage, type the keyword in the search field, click Yes under Still need help, type your full concern in the box, and then click Send. Take note of the reference number, and our Outlook.com support will get back to you as soon as they have read your raised ticket.

For your suggestions or feedback, you can raise it through our UserVoice Forums. Our software engineers would be glad to hear any feedback and reports to help them determine what to further improve on our Office applications.

If there's anything else that we can help you with, please do not hesitate to reply here and we will further assist you.
