Microsoft contacts now being shown as "People" not business cards

I regularly receive outlook contacts in the business card format. In the last few weeks they are being received in Microsoft People (the 2 blue people symbol) format not as business cards. This is frustrating as I now have to manually amend any new details on my contact instead of the new business card overriding the existing one. The person sending them to me assures me it's nothing he has done. How can I change a people attachment to a business card? I have large contact groups for sending bulk emails and some of the contacts within those groups when you double click on them open the "people" format not the outlook business card. Driving me insane at the moment as I can't seems to find any help to sort it out.

I am using office 365 version 2106 (Build 14131.20278 Click to run)

    Windows 10 version 2004 (OS Build 19041.1083)

    IMAP/SMTP

Its a personal email address not sure whether it was originally gmail, yahoo or anything else.

    Thanks for the information, AlisonDew1.

So Build 14131.20278 of Outlook is an old update. We actually have a newer one now -- Build 14131.20320 -- that was just released this week. So first order of business for us is to install this particular Office update which offers a number of fixes for Outlook. To install this update all you need to do is follow our Install Office updates guide. I've included a photo of the actual steps that you need to follow below.

Once done installed the update, please close Outlook, restart the computer and then confirm afterwards if you're still getting the Outlook contacts issue you've mentioned in your original post.

Thank you for your help.  I will answer the questions in the order you asked them

    1.  I am using outlook on 365 on my desktop, not online and not the app

    2.  N/A

    3.  Desktop

I have just looked at the contacts that I definitely received as a business card format before this change happened and all the attachments have changed to look like the "people" format above.

I want them to be received as the following then I can just open and save them and it will change the business card I have saved to show the new details.  Make sense?

    Hi AlisonDew1,

As I mentioned in the PM I sent you I will take over this thread of yours and assist you further.

So to start things off, I need to ask:

    1. What version of Outlook are you using? I specifically need the Product name and Version number as mentioned in the following guide: About Office: What version of Office am I using?
    2. Since you're using a desktop computer, can you tell me what version of Windows are you using? I specifically need the edition and version of Windows your device is running using this guide and the photo below: Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
    3. What email protocol are you using with the email account you added in Outlook? Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3)? Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP)? Microsoft Exchange?
    4. What e-mail account are you having an issue with? You don't have to tell me the actual email account. I just need to know if it's @Outlook.com or @Gmail.com or @Yahoo.com or something else.

Thanks again for choosing Microsoft! We’re here when you need us.
