Hi,

I keep ending up at https://outlook.live.com/owa/0/owahipcontrol.aspx .

Verify your account

Before you can send email, we need to verify your account. This won't happen every time you send email, we promise.

Send a code to this phone number.

However, when I put my number in, it says, "Usage limit exceeded. Try again tomorrow." However, this was my first attempt, and it's not letting me do anything. Why is this happening? I need to use this email for work and this isn't letting me. I've received and sent emails before, I don't understand what the problem is.

    Hi AK_1206,

Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community Forum.

We’ve seen that you’ve encountered a verification page when trying to access or make some actions on your Outlook.com account. Let us work together in sorting this out.

This verification page is part of the security feature where it is trying to protect the account from being compromised. Please see this article. However, this should prompt, occasionally.

    • Could you please verify if this prompt regularly appears on your account? Or, is it when trying to send an email or attempting to log in to your account?
    • How this behavior transparent? Is it when trying to send an email or attempting to log in to your account?

If the issue only occurs when trying to send an email or make changes on the account, does it also persist when using other browsers or devices?

If the prompt only appears when attempting to log in, then the account might be blocked. We have the articles below in resolving this concern:

    Unblock my Outlook.com account

Unlock your Microsoft account or Outlook email

I’d also recommended contacting our Outlook.com In-App Support for them to be aware of this behavior and provide you the proper methods to make this feature manageable. To reach out to them, please follow the steps below:

    1. Log in to your Outlook.com account.
    2. Click the ? icon at the top right corner.
    3. Type in your query in the box and select the Get help button.
    4. Go to Still need help below and click on Yes.
    5. Type your concern in the box and then click Send.

Otherwise, you may directly email them via this link or chat with them through this page.

Once your concern is submitted, one from our Outlook.com Support Team will respond to you within 24-72hours. Please take note that the waiting time may vary depending on the volume of all the submitted tickets.

The advantage of the support platforms above is we have experts from there who can have more visibility on the account and equip with which options would need to be performed to get this resolved.

Should you have other concerns that we can assist you with, you can get back to us by replying to this post or create a new thread using this link if you have a different query.
