Outlook.com ICS Time Zone

I am using the shared calendars feature in Outlook.com to view my personal calendar in an external client. However, Outlook.com does not have the correct time zone, "America/New_York", in the TZID field of the ICS file--it just says "Custom Time Zone"--and therefore my calendar client is not displaying the correct times. I have been searching for a setting I can change to correct this, as going through the exact same process on my school Office 365 account produces an ICS file with the correct time zone in the TZID field. Does anyone have any ideas?

I changed the time zone to something else and then back to my time zone to see if that would change anything in the ICS file, with no luck. I think the Outlook.com server is just not compliant with the ICS standard.

    Hello tchjsa11!

Welcome to Microsoft Office Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We do understand your concern that you are having issues with the time zone on Outlook.com where it only shows "Custom Time Zone" in the TZID field of the ICS file. Let’s us check on this together and sort this out. Rest assured, we will do anything in our capability to assist you with your concern.

For us to better isolate this issue, we'd like to ask a few questions.

    1. May we ask what specific email address you are having issues with? ***Note: Just provide us the domain of your email if it is on @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @gmail.com or something else?
    2. Is this a personal email address or work/school account?
    3. Do you have a Microsoft 365 license like the Family/Personal or for Business version?
    4. Are you on a MAC device or on Windows PC?

Here are the steps to change the time zone on Outlook.com:

    1. Login with your account to outlook.live.com
