Hello:

I just created a distribution list on exchange, now I would like to link it to my Outlook 2016 mail program.  My email is already l;inked with the exchange, but for some reason the new group does not show up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely

Mark S Macy

Hi Mark,

I’m here to help.

Based on my knowledge, distribution lists won’t show in Outlook Groups under the Inbox, where only Microsoft 365 Groups are shown. If you would like to open your distribution list, you could go to Outlook Contacts and add this distribution list to your contact by navigating it in Address Book on the top right. Please find below screenshot for your reference. You could also Create a contact group or distribution list in Outlook for PC.

If you would like to manage a list of emails received by this group, besides filtering in Inbox, you could also create an inbox rule. For more information, please refer to Manage email messages by using rules.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions about this.

Best regards,

Jasmine

If you just created the Distribution List, it will not show up directly in the Offline Address Book as that gets updated/regenerated at the server on a schedule and Outlook then downloads/updates on a schedule as well. It normally should show up within 48 hours though.

A way around this would be to open the "Global Address List" or the "All Distribution Lists" from you address book. This is an online query and thus is always up-to-date.

To see those, open your Address Book (so not your Contacts folder), and use the dropdown list to select one of the Address Books mentioned previously.
