Errors when exporting Outlook contacts to CSV file

I have attempted the wizard to export the contacts to a csv file and get most of the content. If this sounds like a similar question asked in 2017, you're right. The problem lies in mapping custom fields. When I click on this area it thinks my contacts are "tasks" and only gives me the fields for tasks. I cannot select contacts even though the contacts are selected. I have checked every other question with mapping errors to see if anyone has similar issues and have found none. 

How do you change the export type from task to contacts to provide the appropriate fields like name, address etc. instead of priority due date ect.

Thank you for the details you shared with us. I’m currently testing it on Microsoft 365 for enterprise and in Current channel version 2011 (build 13426.20274)

 

1. If I don’t select any field, Outlook exports the default set fields (same as “Default Map”) :

May I know which Microsoft 365 product you’re using and its full version number? Please try to check updates for entire suite, for updating will improve Outlook’s performance and enhance some features.

Regarding error and symptom you mentioned, if you don’t mind, could you please share one screenshot of issue symptom with us (if it contains any personal data, you can mask data by Paint or other tool in advance), so that I can further compare it with my result and investigate it?

first, here is my outlook version:

For hours today this is what was happening:

Tasks with no way to change the mapping. 

Now, in an attempt to get a screenshot of what I was seeing on the mapping page, what I see is correct. It matches what you show but it didn't previously. I did nothing different. You can see that letting it sit has made it work. Thanks for your help. Sorry for the bother.

An answer was given by John Fue that linked to a separate page that it said would potentially address this issue. 

This will provide you 15 steps on how to export your contact from Outlook 2010.

Note: Step no. 14 will address your concern why your exported contacts only show names.

The linked page stops at step 12 so it is of no assistance as it talks about removing outlook from your friends computer.
