Why does Outlook 365 keep generating duplicate Rules and Alerts? Each one following the original is numbered sequentially within parentheses. For example: Microsoft, Microsoft (1), Microsoft (2), and so on. Aside from the name there is absolutely nothing different between the rules or the sender.

    Hi geoear,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and appreciate your time taken for sharing detailed information. I understand that Duplicate Rules and Alerts. I could share with you some of my thoughts on this issue.

I have the same problem, as shown in the picture.

I created the same rule, and I found that this happened after I created the rule by creating new rules for the same email account multiple times. If your rules are the same, you could click Delete to remove the rule you don't want. Just check the rule you want to remove and click Delete.

I hope the information provided is useful for you. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support.

    Best Regard,

Kevin | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
