I'm using Outlook 365 and I have the deleted folder set to clear when I close the program, but I can't remember how I did it/work out how to set up the junk mail folder to do the same. I've tried looking for the answer online but can't seem to find anything specific to the 365 version.

Hello AnnaPod

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

There is no explicit setting that enables emptying the <Junk> folder when you close Outlook.

What you can do is set up "archiving" for the <Junk e-mail> folder to automatically delete everything older then 1 day (that's the smallest value that can be set) as shown in the attached screenshot

  • right-click on the <Junk E-mail> folder
  • select <Properties>
  • select the <AutoArchive> tab
  • adjust the settings as shown
