My message preview box, which I have highlighted in red has become much smaller than the default. It gives me less information than before. How do I reset this to default?

Hi Ajeeth, my name is Neil, I'm an independent adviser and Outlook user like you.

I'll be happy to answer your question. You have your view settings set to "Single". This is easy to rectify.

    Simply follow these quick steps:

In Outlook, click on the View menu.

Then on the Ribbon below, look to the left and click on the "Change View" button.

    Then click on Compact.

This will restore your View to what it was like before, and is the default view in Outlook that you're used to.

    I hope this helps!

    Kindest regards,

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for your response. I tried your suggestion and got this result.

This however isn't the view I'm looking for. I want a view similar to the one in my first screenshot, however with fewer items in that column, but larger in size. The view I've attached in this comment means that I would have to individually open each mail to read it, instead of being able to read it in full in the panel like in the first screenshot.

    Hi,

I know the view you need. It is the view I use all the time...Compact (See screenshot below).

However, the view you have selected there in your screenshot is "Preview" and not "Compact"

Please go back and click on Change View and make sure you select "Compact".

    Kindest regards,

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

That view you've attached is exactly what I'm looking for. However, I cannot get it with only Compact view as in the screenshot below.

I figured it out though, I just needed to enable the Reading Pane in the Layout menu.

    Thanks much for your help!

    Hi,

    You're most welcome!

Yeah the Preview view and the Compact view without the Reading Pane are almost identical to each other.

If you had come back and said you are definitely in the Compact view setting, I would have figured it out :D

I'm glad we've solved your issue!

I'll mark this question as resolved if that's OK with you.

    Have a great day!

    Kindest regards,

    Neil
