Unable to reinstall Microsoft Flight Sim from the MS Store.

Question

Recently my previously installed and fully functional copy of MS Flight Sim 2020 began failing to launch, after trying a number fixes which all failed to solve the issue I decided to try and reinstall the simulator. Upon attempting the reinstall the download repeatedly failed, providing the following code: 0x80070424 and no further information.

Further investigation into the code revealed it is related to a windows update problem, but I confirmed that my machine was fully updated and tried again only for the issue to repeat. Short of rolling back the windows updates, or doing a reinstall of the OS are there any options that could help me rectify the issue?
