Changed calendar events not updating/cancelling properly (Outlook/Google Calendar)

When I change events in a Google calendar, my own Outlook Calendars and invitees on Outlook retain the original meeting in their calendar, and may or may not have the new/updated event in duplicate. Cancelled meetings still show up, moved meetings either show the original and updated meeting time, or don't show the updated meeting time at all. According to G Suite Support, it seems that Outlook interprets the changes made in Google Calendar as a new event and creates an event with the name "Updated: Event name" in their Calendar and also keeps the old one. Is there a fix for this integration fail? It's causing major problems with meetings, as people are not sure what the correct time is.

I'm not getting duplicates in my tests, we not from proper outlook meeting updates.. Outlook desktop properly changed the time (sending from gsuite account to exchange mailbox).

Gmail web is a problem - the meeting time did not update The attached ics file has the correct time. Opening and accepting it would result in duplicates as it won't remove the old one.

I test both changing just the time/date and change the subject, time and date.

    Thanks Dianne--the biggest issues are

(1)for my Invitees who have outlook calendars, and

(2)for my client booking software, which uses an ical sync,

as I manage everything through my google calendar.

It's easy for me to see if something hasn't updated or is duplicated on one of my own outlook calendars, but not so for the people attending my meetings. For my client software, the calendar in g suite appears correct but the changes don't reflect in the booking software calendar resulting in slots appearing booked when they aren't...  Thanks for your help!

    Hi AcPearn,

You're using the Gsuite sync utility? I'm not aware of a way to 'fix' this as it was be an issue with the sync utility but I will test it with my gsuite account and see if there is a solution.
