Connecting vnet to vnet using a gateway public IP

How would one connect vnet to vnet via gateway public ip but keep it isolated enough to where the private addressing scheme wouldn't cause conflicts? Is there a feature in the gateway that will allow me to isolate the network to the level? or would i need to add a firewall to my vnet to achieve this effect?

2021-07-07T13:50:17.817+00:00 I need some insight on how to connect a VM in a separate resource group to apps in another resource group that is fire-walled off with a public ip. Is it as simple as creating rules on the firewall to allow inbound traffic from the VM's public IP? or is there a better more secure way to accomplish this? the fire-walled off resource group houses are intranet web page and few databases the vms will need access to.
