Hi All,

I have a created Excel file with a password Sheet Later I uploaded the file which has the password in Sheet

Surprisingly, I have not provided any password and by using Google I can easily edit the sheet with all the functions and Options. To add more, When I tried to convert a file with a password using VBA security, Google spreadsheets were able to wipe out all the passwords

Is this designed in this way or is this a bug? -Not sure

If this continues, Microsoft Excel's security is gone for a Toss.

Best regards,
Kiran

    @S R Kiran Kancherla ,
    I understand your confusion about this issue.
    And I reproduced your issue on Windows 10 with Excel 365 and Excel 2016.
    Per my research, I found Protect Worksheet is a worksheet-level protection. This official article stated that Worksheet level protection is not intended as a security feature. It simply prevents users from modifying locked cells within the worksheet. Thanks for your understanding!

    Due to you are editing Excel file across platforms, I suggest you try to enable File-level protection to protect this file.

    • Please open an Excel file, then go to File>Info>Protect Workbook>select Encrypt with Password.
    • Enter and confirm a password, click OK. (Please note if you forget or lose your password, Microsoft can’t retrieve it for you.)

    Then you will find that this file may not be uploaded to Google spreadsheets.

    << How did you convert the file? Could you please provide more information?

    Any updates, please let me know.
