Adding GMail accounts protected using security keys

When trying to add a GMail account to Outlook, I could not sign in because the account uses a security key as the 2nd MFA factor, and the sign-in screen states "This browser does not support security keys." It doesn't appear to be using Chrome, which is my default browser. How do I sign in?

    I have the same issue.

I found out that Outlook 2019 seems to be using IE for the sign in procedure. I could'nt get IE to approve any security key.

After unstallling IE outlook still uses some kind of browser UI that does'nt support security keys.

Why would that be a gmail support issue? It's a problem in the Outlook account setup procedure.

Btw. I've allready added the key in "Use Windows Hello or a security key "
