Hi All,

How to fix font changes automatically when sending email?

Scenario

  1. Email from client was received by Boss (html email - font: calibre 10)
  2. Boss forwarded the email as .eml to her secretary
  3. Secretary responded by replying to the .eml format to the client.

When composing the email in Outlook (2016), the font setting is Arial 12 but when the email is sent, the font changes to Arial 10 automatically even if we manually check the font setting to Arial 12 before sending it.

It seems that it copied the font size format from the original email.

Original email is Calibre and size 10.

Troubleshooting done:

  1. Set default when replying to Arial 12
  2. We tried on a different account and outlook but still the same when responding to that email (.eml file format).

Not sure why it happens.

Please help.

Thanks.

Dear Zenn L,

Thanks for chossing Microsoft communkity!

At first, please kindly check if your account has been added to multiple device and mail client, temporarily exit all other devices. In current PC or Mac device, exit Outlook desktop client, only use Outlook Web App to send a test email again to see if issue persists. Then close web app, open Outlook desktop app to test it again and then perform the same steps on other devices.

In Outlook Web App, please check if default message format is set properly:

If you don't encounter the same error in OWA (Outlook web app), then the proof error is basically about the client.

So I suggest you first do the following test: send an email, about the text content in this email, please try to copy and paste it into Outlook on another platform, such as Word, and then check if the result is different.

In addition, please also try to start outlook in safe mode to check there is anything different: Open Outlook in safe mode

Hope you all the best! Please feel free to tell me if you need more help.

Best regards,

Kerry
