Hi, is there any limitations of rules creation in both outlook desktop and outlook on the web? Someone told me it’s only limited to 50 rules, can you confirm this number please?

    Dear MeGadj,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we understand you are querying rules limit in Outlook and Outlook for web.

Generally, the rules in Outlook client and Outlook for web(known as OWA) are limited to 256 KB in total. Modify the space used by Inbox rules in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn.

However there is actually no limit in terms of amount only in total size. Some rules take up more space than others. For server performance reasons, the total rule size per user has been limited, and having over 100 rules may affect your mailbox performance.

If you are using Outlook with a POP3 or IMAP account, there is no such limit, it only applies to Microsoft Exchange accounts.

Hope above information helps, and please feel free to reply to us if you have further concerns.

Generally, Inbox rules in Outlook on the web (formerly known as Outlook Web App) and the Outlook desktop apps are limited to 256 KB total for all rules. Each rule you create will take up space in your mailbox.
