Hello, My Outlook.com account does not show my email account, it is blank. I noticed the email account appears as "outlook_[long series of letters and numbers]@outlook.com".

I had a gmail account so i thought it was that causing the issue so I deleted from my outlook. I only have accounts now that end with @comcast.net. Why are my emails not showing along with folders and sub folders that I have in my outlook desktop.

Hello again,

You have not understood me correctly and I have not gotten my message out well enough I will use another way. Pardon me for a while, this will be long.

You cannot sync your Gmail and Comcast email to be showing in your outlook email all three are different mail clients.

Let me use another explanation:

Imagine your Gmail is Netflix, Comcast is Amazon Prime and Outlook is Disney+

Let us assume Disney sells TVs and on that TV like the TVs around, you can configure your Amazon, Netflix, HBO, BBC, and so on.

You bought a Disney TV and you also went ahead to buy a Disney Package which comes with Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu. For this case Espn is Excel and Hulu is Word.

You also configured your Amazon and Netflix accounts on this TV.

This Disney package allows you to watch it on the Web, so if you open the Web page of the Disney channel and you are looking to watch Lord of the Rings (a show on Amazon Prime) you cannot. You will have to go to the Amazon site to do so, not the Disney+ site.

The Outlook Desktop App is like a TV, which you can configure all your emails on it.

If you open your Gmail on the web you will see your Gmail there, if you open your Comcast on the web you will see your Comcast mail there.

If you open your outlook on the web you will see your outlook there. You will not see Gmail or Comcast there, which is what you are witnessing at the moment.

My explanation was, you opened a Microsoft Account with a non-outlook mail, so Microsoft just created a random one for you. Remember this email is like Disney+ it comes with the package even if you do not need it.

So if you decide to create an Outlook email and change your Microsoft Account email to Outlook So as to personalize it, you still will not see your desktop configured emails there, you will only see Outlook emails there. As this is not an email you use it will still be empty. Because your desktop Outlook App is just like a TV with the ability to have you configure other emails on it.

You cannot move emails from Gmail or Comcast to sync with emails on Outlook. They are different mail clients.

I hope you get it now.

I am still here if you do not.

    Hello James B,

Thank you for coming to the forum and this is actually not as complicated as it looks (but the explanation is tricky) and I will be happy to assist on this.

What you are seeing is the outlook connected to your Microsoft Account, which is not the same as the one on your desktop.

When you configure your gmail to your Outlook Desktop app or your comcast email it stays there it does not upload to the Outlook you are seeing attached to your Microsoft Account. That is not how it works at all.

The reason it looks like that is that you opened the Microsoft Account with an email address that is not an outlook email address, so Microsoft automatically creates an email for you and uses a unique identifier for it which is all the letters and numbers.

So what you are seeing is another email address box not a mirror of your Outlook Desktop app.

So your desktop Outlook App does not sync with that one because it is an email on its own.

I hope I have been able to explain it for you as best as I can.

As I explained you cannot sync your desktop configured emails there.

What will work is only your outlook mail, if you already have an outlook email address which you have been using eg ******@outlook.com and you opened a Microsoft Account with same outlook email, then you will see the two of them syncing. Even then your Gmail and Comcast will not sync, only Outlook.

if that is not the case, it will always remain different.

I kindly await a reply for a follow-up or if there is anything else you need.

If none, have a wonderful rest of your day.

    Kind Regards

    Fuad

    Fuad,

Thank you so much for the reply. So if I understand correctly, the only way for them to sync is to use and @outlook.com email address for my microsoft account. If this is correct can I change my microsoft Account email to an @outlook.com email and then they would sync or is it to late?
