I am trying to make distribution list so that my team can email groups faster. However, outlook is not allowing me to add any emails that have punctation in them to the distribution list.
For example if the email address I would like to add to the list is ******@outlook.com, it is notifying me that this is not a valid email address because of the punctuation. This is happening repeatedly for all addresses of this sort.
Is there any way around this? If not, is there any other way to create an email group, with restricted access so only certain people can email the group and have access to who the members are?

Hi Kelly Zdanuczyk,
Thank you for posting on Microsoft Forum.According to your description, you said that you are unable to add an email with punctuation to a distribution group. Did you get any error when adding these email addresses? Have you tried adding these emails using PowerShell? Is the behavior the same when adding the users in Admin portal?
I suggest putting email addresses in double quotation marks, especially when using PowerShell to add such email addresses. Additionally, confirm that 'MyDistributionGroups' is enabled in the Default Role Assignment Policy under Permissions, allowing the user to create, modify, and view distribution groups, as well as alter, view, add, and remove members to distribution groups they own.
Other way to create an email group, You can create an email group in Outlook, Select Home > New Group > Add Group Name, Description, Privacy...> Click Create. For more check, Create a group in Outlook (microsoft.com). Also you can create contact group, check the steps in Create a contact group or distribution list in Outlook for PC (microsoft.com).
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
De Paul
