Outlook sync with Gmail

I have been using Outlook on my Mac, iPad and iPhone with Gmail for many years ... without any issue. Earlier today all three devices started showing the same issue - they would show notifications of new emails, but would not sync with Gmail and therefore did not show the new emails in my inbox (on every device). I set up Apple mail on my iPad with my Gmail account - worked fine. Went into Outlook <accounts> on my Mac and tried <reset the account> - didn't fix anything. Then deleted the Gmail account on the Mac and re-added it .. the process seemed to work fine but I have a completely empty inbox (won't sync with Gmail). I have logged onto Gmail via Safari and my email account is working fine ... and no setting have been changed in months on the account.

Anyone have any ideas?

I do wish Outlook would show the server/port settings that it's using for Gmail but all is shows is "Microsoft sync technology" so I can't confirm server names or ports for IMAP/POP.

In further diagnostics, using "nc -vz .." I confirmed that my Mac has connectivity to imap.gmail.com:993 and smtp.gmail.com:465 & 587.

Regarding your concern, we found one service incident which is related to your mentioned query. According to the service incident status, Users may be unable to sync external accounts with Outlook Mobile or Outlook for Mac, it is started on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 4:00 PM UTC. Moreover, the next update would be on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 12:00 PM UTC.

Current status: The fix deployment is progressing and we estimate that it is around 40 percent complete. We'll continue to monitor the fix deployment to ensure that the impact is remediated.
