Outlook.com storage limit of 15GB reduced to Microsoft 365 Free with 5GB storage limit

I used to have Outlook.com with 15GB of free storage. Now, I have Microsoft 365 free version with 5GB of free storage. I honestly don't remember signing up for this. I have MS Office 2019 for Mac installed on my Mac. This is a perpetual license for which I don't have to pay monthly or annually. I use the Outlook client to connect to my Outlook.com account. I'm not sure what's going on. Is there any way to regain my 15GB storage limit without purchasing additional storage? Could the reason be because I use my stand-alone Outlook client to connect to Outlook.com? I would be most grateful for anyone's help with this issue.

A change to the email and OneDrive storage has been rolling out since February 1.

Changes to Microsoft 365 email features and storage - Microsoft Support

This change adds your Outlook.com attachments and inline images to the OneDrive storage.

Check your OneDrive storage and the amount of storage used by the Outlook.com attachments and inline images will show.

    OneDrive Storage

If the OneDrive storage is over the limit, your email account will not be able to send and receive emails.

This has nothing to do with you using the stand-alone Outlook client to connect to Outlook.com.

OK, thank you. As I understand it, the bottom line is that even though I technically have 15GB including attachments, in reality I only have 5 now. No issues, I will begin archiving my email offline and delete from the server so I don't go over.

On a related note, I don't quite understand the changes to personal email addresses coming in November 2023. It says after that date, you will no longer be able to add a personal email address. If I needed an additional Outlook.com account, how would I get a new email address?

My thanks for everyone's help with these questions, I appreciate it. :-)

I see that you asked me a question two months ago.

Personalized addresses will not be available after November 30.

A personalized address uses a domain that is purchased from Go Daddy, so instead of using Hotmail.com or outlook.com, you have your own domain.

Means 15 GB is just to show that company providing it but only 5GB is usable for every user. then what is meaning of remaining 10 GB.

I have seen my account throughout and found I have 4 GB attachment in mail account. Nevertheless, I got error related to storage.
