Attached pdf:s becomes Items.

Hi, we just discovered that when we send an email with a attached pdf file, from our info@-address, to a specific costumer, the attached pdfs in our email becomes Outlook item files, (pdf bundled into a file, even the email message is bundled into this file).

When we send an attached pdf from a different email-address to the same recipient the problem doesn´t occur.

(The problem is specific on this costumer)

We are using Windows10 and Outlook (M365) on our side.

How can we fix this?

Thanks for your help!

    Hello Eben,

The problem ONLY occurs when we send from a specific mailadress with an attached pdf file (info@..) to a specific costumer (same problem to 2 different mail-adressess at the costumer)

The problem does not occur when we send an attached pdf from another mailbox (within our domain)

And when we send an attached pdf to the costumer, from a mailadress outside the domain, it works fine.

    1. We send from Outlook (M365)
    2. No changes is made on our side. We are sending from a shared mailbox.

    Sincerily,

    Jesper

    Hello JesperAsking,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

This problem occurs when the software that the recipient is using does not support certain message formats or certain features that are included in the email message.

    1.    Are you using Internet Explorer or Outlook to send the emails with PDF attachments?

    2.    Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

    1. May i know the recipient outlook version and which window is using.
    2. Please send the same email with PDF attachment to another account (if you have other account) and use that account to forward to the affected account. check if the issue persists

If it is possible, you may run the following fix it on the recipient computers and check if that helps.

‘When you run an .exe file on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7-based computer, the file may start a different program’
