The function "create a rule" does not work for spam/phishing emails that have no sender address - The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found. How do I stop these emails?

I am receiving spam and phishing emails to my outlook email account. The newest emails arrive with only a subject line and no sender's email - that info shows a "0" where the senders email address would normally be.

The function of creating a "create a rule" does not work for these emails - "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found."

How do I block these emails and move them to the spam folder?

no, just an @ sign. 1 character, no more no less. You'll see the same thing I see in the snapshot I gave you earlier. Try it.

It should delete all incoming email except those with @ sign in the sender's address.

Sign in to your mailbox with a web browser and create the following rule (see snapshot). That should delete all email except the ones with @ sign (all email contains @ sign). Pay attention to every details in this rule. Of course you can name the rule anything you want. I call mine "test".

    Dave,

Thank you for the quick response.

I do not see a means to send you an image of the incoming email.

Where I normally see a sender’s email there is a zero.

If I right click anywhere in that area no sender’s email is displayed.

I don’t normally open emails like this, but I did, and still no sender's information is displayed.

I am working off the MS Office Suite on my computer. MS Professional Plus 2016. No software updates available at this time.

Any additional insights would be appreciated.

    Steve

    Hi there,

In order to receive an email, it must always come from somewhere. There will always be a sender email address, as it's not possible to send an email without disclosing such info.

You are using the Outlook.com webmail, correct? If so, you can open up the email in question, and it should show the sender chosen name (which appears to be 0 as you mentioned?), as well as their email address. You can also click their sender name once you open the email, and it should also show their email address there as well.

When looking through your inbox, it will generally show the chosen sender name rather then their email address. So opening up the email message will show their email address.

    Hope this helps

    Kind Regards,

    Dave
