permenantly remove or replace autocomplete entry which is taking over the default entry

Instructions here do not work for Outlook 365 hosted on Exchange 365 and Win10..

After few minutes after clicking the X next to an autocomplete suggestion, the void suggestion comes back (and becomes the default suggestion replacing my assistant - who I need to email hundreds of times each day).. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manage-suggested-recipients-in-the-to-cc-and-bcc-boxes-with-auto-complete-dbe46e31-c098-4881-8cf7-66b037bce23e?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us

Any other suggestions here as I've now sent over 3x messages in error over the course of two weeks...?

Thanks

The suggested options will remove all addresses from the Auto-Complete list.

If you do not want to permanently delete all addresses from the Auto-Complete list, you may remove the addresses that have an X symbol on the right when highlighted.

By selecting X, you will prevent that entry from appearing in the AutoComplete list in the future, but it will remain in your account. This entry may still be visible in other Outlook areas like search boxes.

Thanks for the quick update here De Paul.

I assume both options 1. and 2. will remove all autocomplete entries permanently right?

    Hi JeremyA6,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you want to permanently remove or replace autocomplete entry.

Other than clicking the X to the right of entry, there are other two methods for removing an item from the autocomplete list:

    1. Clear the list entirely from Options > Mail > Empty Auto-Complete List
    2. Open Run (Win +R) and type this command line switch outlook.exe /cleanautocompletecache

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,

    De Paul
