Firstly my problem isn't listed in dropdown options so please ignore what i have selected there.

My phone has recently developed a problem. It keeps displaying a message 'Check your Microsoft account. We couldn't connect to your Microsft account'. When i click it, sometimes it just disappars, only to reappear some time later. Other times it takes me to a log in which sends a message to Authenticator, but then i get a message saying that Microsoft Account has technical problems and to try again later. The original error message reappears. This has been going on for weeks now.

    H Jane and NigelStolworthy,

It seems to be that the problem is within your phone that is not connecting to the Microsoft server since you were able to login to the Microsoft server separately with a browser. I would like to know if you happen to have any anti-virus software installed on your phone?

You may try this other troubleshooting steps and see if it resolves the problem.

    1. Check for a software update on your phone and update your phone.
    2. After you've updated the phone, proceed to restart your phone.
    3. Try again to sign out and sign in from your phone.

Please let me know if the issue is still the same.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB

I did as you suggested and was able to log on. I signed out and when the normal message appeared, tried to sign in again but got the normal error message.

    Hi Jane and NigelStolworthy,

    Thanks for getting back.

To properly assist you, how about if you sign in first to your account using this link here -> https://account.microsoft.com/ and use a different browser. And see if you can login with your Outlook account. In this way we can isolate if the problem is with the Microsoft server. After that you've verified your account is working on the Microsoft server, sign out your account from your phone and sign in back.

Hope it helps. Please let me know if you have any concern about this.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB

    Hi JaneStolworthy,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help.

Based on your description, it seems to be that you are having issues with your Microsoft Account on your phone. This might be that there was an update from the server wherein your account didn't sync properly to your phone. Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

    • What specific email address you are having issues with? Just provide us the domain if it is on @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com or something else?
    • Was the email address an associated account to your phone or only to a mail client application?
    • Can you please specify the phone you are using? Is it an iOS device or Android phone?
    • Can you provide us a photo or screenshot of the exact error message?

Looking forward to your next reply.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB
