Hello,

I am having some issues with my windows software activation. I recently changed the hardware for a dell server and in doing so my windows became inactivated. I had a valid windows license before but now if I try reactivating it, I receive a message stating that Microsoft does not recognize it as a valid product. I have tried to reactivate according to the windows support article but no luck. If anyone has any advice it would be a great help.

Generally speaking an OEM license dies with the hardware. If this was some hardware warranty issue where Dell replaced the hardware then Dell tech should handle the product key / activation issue.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I already tried that and windows says that I have and invalid product even though that is not the case. I had an authentic copy of windows.

    Hi

For a Server OS you should do a offline activation with an agent on the phone.

In a command prompt do a slui 4.

It would open the windows that allow you to pick your country, and will provide a number to call depending on your choice.

See an example there; Activate an offline Windows Server using the Windows Product Activation Center

    Thanks

    Philippe
